Headway Cardiff Select XV

New charity rugby team set up to raise awareness about brain injury.

On Saturday 28th July the Headway Cardiff Select XV played their inaugural match against Rhiwbina RFC. The game kicked off at Cardiff Arms Park and was followed by a BBQ, raffle and live music at the Rhiwbina Recreation Club.

Phil Steele provided comedy and commentary for the match and Blues Captain, Ellis Jenkins, came along to support the team.

As well as raising funds, the Headway Cardiff Select XV will promote safe play and the importance of being ‘Concussion Aware’ when participating in sport.

The Select XV was the brain child of Headway Cardiff & South East Wales support Chris Case, who organised a successful fundraising ball for the charity in April.

The work Headway Cardiff do to support Brain Injury survivors is incredible’, said Chris, ‘it is an absolute pleasure to organise this event and hopefully raise some money and awareness to help fund their fantastic service.’

Overall the rugby match raised £3,374!

The next Headway Cardiff Select XV game will be played on 17th November at St. Peters’ RFC.
